THE LONG HORIZON
IAN R THOMSON
The Long Horizon is a much awaited second book from the pen of the author of 'Isolation Shepherd', itself regarded by many as a classic work which when published enjoyed wide media acclaim and provided material for a television film screened in 1984.

This book is a worthy successor. Great tragedy and mysticism mingle effortlessly with hilarious events. The reader is carried with equal ease on a style of prose which can emerge from a simple sensitive description to majestic profundity on a single page. No emotion is left untouched, but the handling is always that of an artist, delicate and discreet or vigorous and powerful, each form as the subject merits.

No simple autobiography, Thomson writes from the inside. Many and varied stories, peppered with asides, reflect the changes of both affluence and attitude which have revolutionised Highland living and dramatically affected its natural environment both in his lifetime and down the centuries.

A Ramble Round The Globe Revisited
MALCOLM GREENWOOD
When Malcolm Greenwood wrote his first book, A Nip Around The World, on his travels as a whisky salesman, he was unaware that a hundred years ago Tommy Dewar had done exactly the same thing. Tommy's book, A Ramble Round The Globe, was published in 1904 and having been inspired by that work, Greenwood then decided to follow in Dewar's footsteps in an attempt to recreate his trip of 1898. Dewar took years to complete his trip - Greenwood took a mere six weeks!

A Ramble Round The Globe Revisited is the result and it takes the reader from Speyside in Scotland to Boston, New York, Washington, Chicago, San Francisco and on to Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, China and Hong Kong before finally returning home to a well-earned rest.
